Jumlah pemain Reog Cemandi sekitar 13 orang.

Reog itself is synonymous with the City of Ponorogo, but not many know that Reog Cemandi is an authentic arts in Sidoarjo. The art appeared in 1926. Reog Cemandi was different from Reog Ponorogo. What distinguishes it is the absence of warok, and the mask is not decorated with peacock feathers like the characteristic of Ponorogo reog. The rhythm of the music used is angklung and small drum.

The number of Reog Cemandi players is around 13 people. Two dancers wearing Barongan Lanang (male) masks and Barongan Wadon (women), six drummers and four angklung players. When playing the dance, two dancers from Barongan Lanang and Barongan Wadon accompanied the drummer in the middle. The six drummers formed a circular formation while following the beat.

Previously, Reog Cemandi was a performance used by the community of Cemandi village, Sedati sub-district to expel the Dutch invaders. At that time, one of the clerics from Pondok Sidoresmo Surabaya, told the local community to make masks from the woods of the randu trees. The mask is shaped to resemble a buto cakil face with two fangs. After that, the local people performed dances to repel invaders who were about to enter the village of Cemandi.

In addition to expelling invaders at that time, the dance is also an appeal to the surrounding community to always remember the Almighty God. The suggestion is implied in the sair pangelingan (reminder) that the player chants before starting the show. "Lakune wong urip eling gusti ning has been praying in the middle of Ratri" said Arif Juanda imitating the sair.

Now, the Reog Cemandi show has changed function. The surrounding community usually invites the art of Reog Cemandi for a wedding celebration, circumcision or other events. In addition, the surrounding community believed that the Reog Cemandi dance could be used to reject the balak (throwing bad luck). "We must be in front of the procession. Because we reject the balak," he stressed again.
